General Andrew P. Poppas retired from the United States Army on January 31, 2026, after more than 37 years of service and became Chief Executive Officer of Cypress International, Inc. on June 1, 2026. He most recently served as Commanding General of U.S. Army Forces Command (FORSCOM), the Army’s largest command, responsible for the readiness of more than 740,000 Soldiers and 13,000 civilians. During his career, he commanded at every level through division and served in several of the military’s most senior positions, including Director for Operations and Director of the Joint Staff. His operational experience includes multiple combat deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan.

A Wisconsin native and 1988 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, General Poppas also holds a master’s degree from Kansas State University and was a National Security Fellow at Harvard University. His career included extensive service with the 82nd Airborne and 101st Airborne Divisions, as well as assignments on the Joint Staff and as a Foreign Area Officer in Greece. Throughout his career, he was recognized for his focus on warfighting, readiness, leadership, and the welfare of Soldiers and their families. He continues to contribute to national security and defense through his leadership at Cypress and service in select advisory roles.
