Jose Agurto appointed as Veterans Trust Lead Veteran Ambassador

Jose Agurto was unanimously voted in as Lead Veteran Ambassador by the Veterans Trust Board of Directors in March 2026. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 2000 and proudly served for 15 years. His combat deployments included Operation Enduring Freedom (Iraq), Operation Iraqi Freedom II, and Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan). He also supported humanitarian efforts during Operation Tomodachi in Sendai, Japan, following the devastating 2011 earthquake and tsunami. His final duty station was as Company Gunnery Sergeant at the Marine Corps Engineer School. In 2015, he transitioned from active duty through the Temporary Early Retirement Authority (TERA) program under the Obama administration.

After his military service, Jose enrolled at Miami Dade College. In 2019, he earned an Associate’s Degree in Computer Information Systems, followed by a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology (Networking) with honors in 2020. For the past four years, Jose has volunteered with The Veteran Trust, supporting multiple events, including the Special Operations in Miami Formula 1. For the past two years, he has served as Deputy Chief of Race Operations Marshal Support for both the Miami Formula 1 and Las Vegas Formula 1 Grand Prix events.
